About The MAW

The MAW is run by Midlands Airsoft Wargames on a private site of around 50 acres at Asfordby Valley near Melton Mowbray, now in its 12th year there. Games move from plantation woodland up to a hilltop, through dark woods to a rebel camp, into a village of buildings and ditches in the woods and on to a train station, with open grassland and runways leading to an extraction point. Games are not preset and roll on through the day rather than returning to base between rounds. Gates open at 8am, the safety brief is at 9.30am and games start by 10am, running until around 4pm. Walk on days cost £30 and a day hire package costs £50, with some dates offered at a reduced price. A small shop sells snacks, drinks, consumables, BBs and limited spare kit, and hot food from the chippy can be pre ordered at sign in. The site has been voted in the Airsoft International Players Choice Awards for UK woodland sites several times, and private games, team training days and shooting gallery hire are available by email.

VelocityAutomatic guns 350 fps, DMRs 450 fps locked to semi only, bolt action 500 fps. All guns are chronographed on the player's own BB weight before each game, with a maximum BB weight of 0.48g.
EngagementMinimum engagement distance of 30 metres for anything over 350 fps. Automatic fire in two second bursts, three when an LMG is grounded.
Blind firingNo blind firing, and no shooting through holes smaller than an A4 sheet of paper.
PyroSmoke and bang grenades from reputable brands only, nothing bigger than a MK5, 209 or 9mm, smokes outdoors only, over 18s only.
Face protectionFace protection stays on in game areas unless a marshal gives the all clear. Full face protection is strongly recommended.
