Specna Arms, the Polish airsoft brand, has signed a licensing agreement with the Belgian arms maker FN Herstal. The deal was made together with EMG Arms and was reported by Airsoft Milsim News on 29 January 2026.
What has been announced
The first product named under the deal is a licensed M249 light machine gun, which Specna Arms says will arrive later this year. A licensed SCAR-L rifle is also in development. Specna Arms says more licensed products will follow, but it has not named them.
No prices, specifications or release dates have been given for either replica.
Why licences matter
A licence lets an airsoft maker use the original company's names, trademarks and markings. Without one, makers often sell lookalike replicas with invented names or no markings at all. For many players the correct markings are part of the appeal, especially for milsim events where kit is meant to match a real unit.
EMG Arms, the licensing company that worked on this deal, has signed a long list of agreements with American and European gun makers in recent years. It has done the same for other brands, and the deal with FN Herstal follows that pattern.
The M249 is the light machine gun used by the United States military and many other forces, and it was developed from FN's Minimi. It is belt fed and can also take rifle magazines. The SCAR-L is FN's 5.56mm assault rifle, adopted by special forces in several countries.
Both designs are already familiar in airsoft, through replicas from a number of makers, and the M249 in particular is a common support weapon at milsim events. A licensed version from a large budget brand could bring correct markings to players who would not normally pay for a high end replica.
What happens next
Specna Arms has said only that the M249 will arrive later in the year. Support weapons need box magazines, and buyers will want to know whether the replica uses existing magazines or new ones. We will report the specification and the price when Specna Arms releases them.
For UK players, any realistic replica must be bought with a valid defence, such as being a regular skirmisher at an insured site.
