VFC has launched a licensed range of Maxim Defense replicas, led by the PDX-SD and MDX 510 electric guns. VFC first showed the range at IWA OutdoorClassics in Nuremberg, and Airsoft Milsim News covered the two electric models on 25 March 2026.
The range
VFC says the Maxim range launched in Asia in February 2026, with Europe to follow. Two of the models are electric guns. Both electric models are fitted with the GATE ASTER ETU, an electronic trigger unit from the Polish maker GATE. VFC also says it uses a high torque motor on its MD series.
The rest of the range is gas powered. VFC showed a PDX SBR gas blowback rifle and an MD9 gas blowback submachine gun at IWA.
VFC has not given prices or European release dates.
Maxim Defense
Maxim Defense is an American maker known for very short rifles and pistols, many built around its own short stocks and integrated suppressors. Its designs are aimed at close quarters work, where a compact gun is easier to handle.
The ASTER is one of GATE's most widely used electronic trigger units. It replaces the mechanical trigger contacts in an electric gun with a MOSFET and a microprocessor. It can control burst length, trigger sensitivity and rate of fire, and protects the battery from running too low. Owners can change settings with a programming card or, on some versions, from a phone.
A factory fitted ASTER saves a player from fitting one themselves, which is one of the most common upgrades to an electric gun.
What it means for players
Short guns like the PDX are suited to close quarters games, where long rifles get in the way. Many indoor sites set lower power limits for full auto, so players should make sure the gun can be set to those limits and that burst settings are allowed.
European players will need to wait for the range to reach Europe. VFC has not said when that will happen or whether all models will be included. In the UK, any realistic replica must be bought with a valid defence, such as being a regular skirmisher at an insured site. We will report European dates and prices when VFC confirms them.
