Wolverine adds new features to BLINC

Wolverine Airsoft has updated its BLINC Bluetooth control unit for HPA engines, adding improved autotune, a simulated empty magazine and fixes, with chrono links through Acetech.

Wolverine Airsoft has released an update to BLINC, the Bluetooth fire control unit for its high pressure air engines. The update was reported by Airsoft Milsim News on 17/08/2026.

What BLINC is

BLINC is a fire control unit that uses Bluetooth Low Energy to connect to a smartphone app. Instead of opening the gun to change settings, players adjust the engine from their phone. Wolverine is one of the best known makers of HPA systems, which run on compressed air from a tank and a regulator rather than from a battery driven gearbox or a gas magazine.

The unit already offered a range of features before this update. Players could set fire modes and save different profiles, use a sleep mode to save battery, rely on short circuit detection, and monitor battery voltage.

What the update adds

Wolverine lists three areas of change. The autotune function, which sets the engine timing automatically, has been improved. A simulated empty magazine detection has been added, so the replica can stop firing as if the magazine were empty, which some players and event organisers prefer for realism. The update also brings a set of quality of life fixes.

When BLINC is paired with an Acetech chronograph or tracer unit, it can show real time chrono readings and take random samples. Wolverine also offers what it describes as a patent pending dwell autotune in this setup. Dwell is the length of time the valve stays open on each shot, and tuning it well helps keep the power and air use consistent.

No price for the hardware was given in the material we have seen, and Wolverine has not said whether the update is free for existing BLINC owners. We will add those details if they are confirmed.

What it means for players

HPA has become common at UK sites because it gives a very consistent velocity and works well in cold weather, where gas systems struggle. The trade off is that it needs care to set up. Tools that make it easier to tune the engine, and to check the power without a separate chrono session, lower the barrier for new HPA users.

The chrono link is also useful for marshals and organisers. A rifle that reports its own readings is not a replacement for a site chrono, and we would expect every site to keep testing replicas at the safe zone, but it helps players keep their own settings honest between checks.

We will look for reports from players who have installed the update, particularly on how well the improved autotune copes with changes in air pressure through a long game day.
